Choosing a Tally Dealer in Chennai: A Buyer's Guide
Updated October 2026 · by cSoft Solutions, Certified Tally Partner, Chennai
The TallyPrime license costs the same everywhere — ₹22,500 for Silver, ₹67,500 for Gold, plus GST, fixed by Tally Solutions. So when you choose a dealer, you're not shopping for price. You're choosing who picks up the phone when your e-Invoice fails on GST return day. Here's what to actually evaluate.
1. Certified partner status
Tally Solutions certifies its partners. A certified partner buys licenses through official channels, activates them properly against your business PAN/GST details, and can raise support cases with Tally directly on your behalf. Ask plainly: "Are you a certified Tally partner?" and cross-check prices against official rates — a "discount" on a fixed-price product is a red flag, not a bargain.
2. What's included beyond the license key
A good partner includes installation on your systems, data migration from your old setup (Tally.ERP 9 or another accounting package), initial training for your team, and GST invoice for your purchase. If the quote is just a license key by email, you'll pay for all of the above later — in service charges or in your own time.
3. TDL customization capability
This is the biggest separator. TDL (Tally Definition Language) is how Tally gets customized — your invoice format with your logo and QR code, industry-specific modules, integrations with your website or CRM. Dealers without in-house TDL developers can only forward your requirements to someone else. Ask: "Show me TDL work you've built yourselves." (Our own examples: transport, church, API and BI verticals and add-ons.)
4. Support after the sale
Tally questions don't stop after installation — year-end closing, GST rule changes, new staff training, data splits, release upgrades. Ask how support works: phone/remote/on-site? Response time? Is there an AMC plan with defined commitments? A partner who offers structured AMC takes support seriously; one who says "just call whenever" usually means "whenever we're free".
5. Renewal management
TSS renewal lapses are the most common avoidable problem we see — e-Invoicing stops mid-month because nobody tracked the expiry. A good dealer reminds you before expiry and lets you renew online in minutes. Ask how they handle it.
Questions to ask any dealer — a checklist
- Are you a certified Tally partner? How long have you been one?
- Is installation, migration and training included in this price?
- Do you have your own TDL developers? Show me examples.
- What are your AMC plans and response times?
- Will you remind me before my TSS expires? Can I renew online?
- Can you support us remotely and, when needed, on-site in Chennai?
